New Cricket Rules for Super overs

New SUPER Rules 

14th July, 2019 witnessed the 12th edition of dramatic Cricket world cup final held at Lord's . Ben Stokes enforced the Super Over after helping English Team to equal their score with New Zealand. What followed was a dramatic phase of 20 minutes with both teams playing a single over a side which also eventually ended up with equal score, But England team due to more boundaries (fours and sixes) during the match ended up victorious in the final road to World cup.....and critics tsunami began its rise over the cricketing fraternity.

> Super over rules amended after three months of historic super over tie during world cup finals at Lord's. 

> League games with super over ties will end as a draw .

> Final and Semi-final will see a super over to repeat as long as a team doesn't score more than the other and win.

> Final of world cup, 2019 became the first ODI in history to be decided by a super over.

>New Zealand is involved in the first ever super over decider of both ODI and T20 international in cricket history, with a loss on both occasions. 

What made the world roar against super over rules ?

It was a super over like any other , the only thing special : a world cup final match held at the historic Lord's ground in front of a packed house. Having scored 15 runs batting first, English team were confident when their team commenced bowling to New Zealand side. But, the kiwis had a last ball defeat even after scores were levelled on the final ball. England won the title while New Zealand,  well one could say they were  literally robbed off their first and only ICC title, a disappointment that was more sour than memories of past world cup final's defeat for Kiwis .

The change of rules by ICC 

The world witnessed history with the first ever ODI in cricket to be decided with Superover became world cup final of 2019 and it also ended up in a tie . The critics and their remarks brought in a huge debate with the media and experts commenting about cricket rules being upgraded and implemented in order to be fair for both the teams involved. The cricket executive committee in their meeting held at DUBAI headquarters on 15th October 2019 , ended up with a new set of rules being implemented for Super overs played from then onwards.

As per the new rules, the group stage matches to be decided with a super over will remain a tie if scores remain level even after a super over and number of boundaries will not be considered for a result from now. If the semi final or a final match is to be decided by a super over, the super over will be repeated unless a team scores more runs and defeats the other irrespective of number of boundaries like previous rule.
